Perfect.Info, Jazz tu Sabes (JTS, or in English “Jazz that you know”), was created with the initiative to form a group of musicians who instantly work together using only ‘standards’ of jazz and world music in the eastern part of Bavaro, Punta Cana. In its initial stage, JTS was formed with Willian Tavarez (drums), Gustavo Rodriguez (bass), and Luis Gil (guitar) respectively.
The idea came about over a year ago and continues to evolve not only for this trio but applies to any musician that feels like sharing their talent and knowledge, as well as creating a joyful atmosphere full of different musical styles. “As a result of this, we learned that there is great interest in jazz and improvisation and that the public likes to enjoy good music and is willing to continue to come out, and for us, it is an honor to perform for them,” says Willian Tavarez. To keep this idea going, nothing needs to be defined specifically per se, except the idea is to give the opportunity for all musicians to join, create, share, propose, review, and offer their proposals.
JTS has adopted the known local bar, ‘Líqui2’ as the hub for its activities, with a different show every Tuesday at 10:30 pm. The next step is to further develop this movement, with special guests who can contribute to our music community. Among the musicians who have participated in this activity are Gustavo Rodriguez (piano), Yasser Tejeda (guitar), Carlos Marcelo (piano), Rafael Nunez, Joe (guitar), and many more.
In August, the first anniversary will be celebrated with jazz guitarist Martin Gioel performing popular music from Santo Domingo. If you want to know more, we invite you to stop by the Liqui2 bar on Tuesday nights. For additional information visit the Facebook page for Liqui Dos.
